Hiring any kind of venue or facility – especially if you are not yet familiar with the venue and their policies and/or terms & conditions – can feel nerve wracking, with many venues offering their own unique terms to hirers. That’s why we’ve created these useful FAQs for hirers around sports hall for hire – providing you with everything you need to know before hiring a sports hall, so you can book with confidence.

Sports hall for hire: FAQs for hirers

Is parking available/included in sports hall hire? It really depends on the school and whether they have parking available on site. Although, it’s important to note that the majority of schools do have onsite parking facilities available or are able to offer parking nearby.

Will there be access to toilets and disabled facilities? Often, schools do provide access to toilets and – particularly – accessible toilets for individuals with limited mobility and disabilities so, in the vast majority of cases, the answer will be ‘yes’.

However, this may be subject to your hiring terms so, if in doubt and in need of toilets and accessible toilets as part of your sports hall hire, always ask the venue for clarification.

How much should I pay to hire a sports hall? Hall hire costs depend on a number of variables such as location, length of hire and regularity, and available facilities & amenities but, as a very general rule of thumb, sports hall hire is likely to cost upwards of £30 per hour.

Can I eat and drink in a sports hall? Aside from water bottles, it’s generally expected that food & drink – and especially glass containers – remain outside of the sports hall as spillages and breakages to containers can cause damage to the venue as well as risk of injury, not to mention a risk to health due to food-related allergies & intolerances.

Will I have to clean up following my activity or event? This really depends on the terms & conditions agreed upon with your venue – some venues offer a post-event cleaning service where others do not. Alongside this, post-cleaning and tiding also depends on how much you’re paying to hire the sports hall in question. Oftentimes, you’ll pay more for a hall you don’t have to clean and tidy once you’re finished.

However, any and all venues will likely tell you they appreciate it greatly if you take your rubbish home or place it in the rubbish bins before leaving!

Lastly, it’s important to note that, in practice, sports hall hire isn’t as complex or intimidating as it may seem and – throughout any and all stages of your hiring journey – there will be someone available to answer any questions or concerns you may have; helping to making the process as easy as possible for everyone involved.
