Village hall or school hall hire Schoolhire Solutions Ltd

Should you hire a village hall or a school hall?

If you’re currently planning a party or event and are looking for a hall for hire, you will have noticed a wealth of options available to you – namely community halls, village halls and school halls for hire. But which is most appropriate for your needs?

Village hall or school hall hire?

Hiring a village hall is a fantastic choice, especially if you live within or near to the village said hall is based – making it an easy commute to and from on the day of your event, as well as quick and easy to set up and decorate, and – as everything tends to be localised – easy to communicate with the person or persons who manage the hall, should you have any questions or issues with your booking.

What’s more, hiring a village hall means you’re investing in and giving back to your local community which, of course, would make anyone feel proud!

However, especially if you live in a more urban or built up area, a village hall may not be the most appropriate option for you and, actually, making use of your local school’s facilities could better fit your needs

This is because school facilities, such as main halls and resource halls, tend to be particularly spacious – purpose built to comfortably ‘house’ upwards of 30 children at once for assemblies, announcements, performances and presentations.

Alongside this, because school halls are purpose built and multi-purpose, they often offer a variety of equipment hirers can make use of such as projectors or audio equipment, meaning that you won’t have to source or bring your own should you want to play music or play some kind of video or presentation – not only making your experience much more convenient but also helping to drive down external costs.

What’s more, just like hiring a village hall, when you hire a school hall or any of the facilities within a school, you’re giving back to the community and – particularly – to local families as the additional income generated from school lettings is put back into the school in the form of new equipment, activities, staffing or field trips and so much more; improving the learning experience of the pupils who attend whilst providing increased job opportunities for local people.

Unlike a village hall for hire, however, which is often only equipped to offer the hall with basic facilities such as toilets and a kitchen/kitchenette, schools are well-placed to offer a larger variety of facilities and, as such, offer versatility and a wider variety of options for your party or event.

Plus, village halls tend to be relatively small spaces, due to the purpose for which they were/are built – offering a necessary and much needed facility to a small catchment area. This is fantastic if you’re hosting a party or event for a fairly small number of people, but may not be appropriate for larger events, or events/parties offering activities that require a lot of space.

In short, when it comes to the question of what’s more appropriate for you, a village hall or school hall hire, it really depends on space, location, and facilities & amenities required.

School halls tend to be the obvious choice for many as, alongside offering space, versatility and ‘built-in’ basic audio/visual equipment, schools are often based in the heart of a community, easy to get to and well-known by those in the area, meaning hosts don’t have to worry about guests getting lost, stranded or struggling to park at the venue.
