It can be as simple as adding a clause into any contract or terms & conditions that states the hirer is responsible for switching off any electrical equipment used within the space. 

Make changes to lighting: there are many changes you can make to the lighting within your school to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. For example, switching from traditional light bulbs to LED can save up to 90% energy. 

Automatic timers set to switch lights off after working hours are also an effective way to ensure energy and cost savings, and also reduce the risks of a light or two being mistakenly left on overnight!  

Utilise social media for promotions: social media is one of the most effective and far reaching tools available in the digital world and utilising social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) can do wonders for your school lettings, as well as improving energy efficiency; helping you reach new audiences quickly and easily.
